Joyful living free in salvation. Learning and jounreying with the global Church.

A girl raised in K.C., MO with a little mix of urban and rural influences. Coming from a family with a passion for the Lord and missions I was exposed to the multi-cultural Church at a young age. Through the impact of various generations, communities, and people I was encouraged to find what the Lord's purpose for me was. I am forever thankful for love, prayers, encouragement, and influence of the Church, family, and friends. People were not afraid to help me dream and grow as a leader. I share this to testify to the fact that community journeying together through the Church changes lives and empowers people of all generations.

I accepted Jesus at the age of 8 and found a calling on my life at the age of 12. At 12 I had gone on a mission trip and experienced warming of my heart while having a conversation with a young boy from the island in a van. As we discussed life and he found Hope, my heart found a home and passion. At such time one of my various passions came to life. Proclaiming the Gospel in a relational and genuine way for others to experience the Lord was the passion that began that day. As I followed the Lord's calling, I struggled for a year to discern and know that it was the Lord leading. Through the next few years, I found that it was not my responsibility to fulfill God's calling on my life. It was in surrender and letting go that I learned to trust God and live more free from worry and having to have all of life figured out. Today, I am being stretched and encouraged through journeying alongside the global and local Church of the Nazarene and precious people from varied world areas and faiths.

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the Church of the Nazarene across the United States. Many of you have supported and encouraged me to help me get to this point in life and service. Thank you also to the many precious brothers and sisters around the world who are praying for and encouraging me. Because of you, we all go as a Church body wherever the Lord leads. An African phrase I appreciate is Ubuntu - I am because you are. In Christ, I am also because We are! Thank you for coming with me on this journey and reminding me that I am never in this alone no matter the distance. Currently, I volunteer alongside the Africa South Field. Here in Johannesburg, there are skilled and passionate people reaching the Church and local communities in a variety of ways. The continent of Africa circulates with beautiful diversity alongside needs that have developed the ministry of the Church in distinct ways. The Africa South Field consists of five countries: Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, eSwatini, and South Africa. Within these countries, I have been honored to meet many talented and God-fearing brothers and sisters. I ask for your prayers as we launch young adult ministry at a camp this coming December. The Lord is doing exciting things as we develop an empowerment discipleship community across the AS Field. Many district assemblies will be occurring as well across the five country locations in the next few months. Please pray as leaders and pastors face joys and challenges of many kinds. These are exciting days in the continent of Africa as I believe the brothers and sisters of Africa are arising today and the immediate future in wondrous ways. I trust that the Lord wants us to live free in Him, free from bondage and distractions of this world. In such trust, finding true peace and hope that propels us into the world living and proclaiming the Kingdom of God in creative and effective ways to reveal God's love.

My current dream and visions are that the Lord will use and shape me through Holy Spirit's leading as He touches lives in miraculous ways. While having various passions, I pray that this year the Lord provides more specific direction on ministry and further preparation for the future. As for my dream while in South Africa, I pray and believe that the Church will arise and be stretched deeper in simple and amazing ways. I have seen God do the 'impossible' may we not limit what God can do! Trusting God, listening for the Lord, journeying in community, and being active within and beyond the Church communities are all aspects of this year for me.

Important verses in my current season: Micha 6:8, Joshua 1:9, Psalms 91, John 14:12-14, and John 13:35

Blessings to all, please know that I enjoy the privilege to pray and journey alongside any that are interested. Feel free to check out my blog and see how God is at work here on the AS Field. I have recently worked out details for a weekly that is sent out 1-2 times per month. If you are interested in receiving these please email me at (alanders@ africanazarene.org).

Going Where the Church is Not Yet

Today there are over 4.3 billion people who live in areas where there is little to no gospel witness. 4.3 billion people who have not heard the message of the gospel, who have never heard the name of Jesus. We believe that everyone deserves to hear. God continues to call the Church of the Nazarene to spread the message of the gospel, to preach holiness, and to bring good news to the poor all over the world. The task is enormous; far too big for anyone to do alone, but together we can go where the church is not yet and see people, communities, and nations transformed. Reaching these people begins with one step, a step of obedience and faithfulness that says yes to God’s call. Take your first step and start your journey toward serving in missions today.
