In Memoriam: January 13, 2017

The following is a weekly listing of Nazarene ministers and leaders who recently went home to be with the Lord. Notices were received January 9-13, 2017.

Nettie Baker, 79, of Hurricane, West Virginia, passed away January 10. She was the widow of retired minister James Baker, who served in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia. James Baker passed away in 2003. 

Eugene Brantley, 83, of Waterford, California, passed away January 12. He was a retired minister, serving in North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, Arizona, California, Oklahoma, Washington, and New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Edna Brantley. 

Geoffrey Burges, 82, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away January 8. He was a retired minister and missionary, serving in California, Ohio, South Carolina, and Australia. 

Ulysses Cribbs, 91, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away January 7. He was a retired minister, serving in Texas, Missouri, Illinois, and Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle Cribbs. 

Larry Dale, 80, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away January 9. He was a retired minister, serving in Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, and Nebraska. He is survived by his wife, Nina Dale. 

Margaret (Reneer) Mitchum, 86, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away January 9. She was the widow of retired minister Clarence Mitchum, who served in Indiana. Clarence Mitchum passed away in August. She was also preceded in death by husbands James Montgomery and Richard Bickford.

Dorotha Nickels, 89, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away January 10. She was the widow of retired minister Dewey Nickels, who served in Illinois, Nebraska, Texas, and Oklahoma. Dewey Nickels passed away in 2015.

Bernard Sims, 93, of Richwood, West Virginia, passed away December 29, 2016. He was a retired minister, serving in West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Mary Sims. 

Eddie Thomas Sr., 62, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away January 10. He was a retired minister, serving in Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Thomas.
