DR. BRUCE OLDHAM was elected as 7th president of Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary, located in Manila, Philippines, on August 1, 2016, after an extensive search process. Dr. Oldham and his wife, DR. PEGGY OLDHAM, who serves on the faculty at APNTS, began their work at the seminary on November 1, 2016. They are on specialized assignment to the Asia-Pacific region during their tenure.
Dr. Bruce Oldham served in various capacities in Nazarene higher education: at MidAmerica Nazarene University as the Dean for the School of Christian Ministry and Formation at (2010-12); at Mount Vernon Nazarene University as Vice President for Enrollment Management (2007-10), department chair and professor for Christian Education (2002-07); Executive Assistant to the President/Church Relations (1997-2002), and Director of Admissions and Student Recruitment (1991-97); and at Trevecca Nazarene University as Admissions Counselor (1978-79). He was awarded the Ed. D. in Higher Education Leadership from Vanderbilt University (2005), having earned a master’s degree in religion/biblical studies and Christian education (1989) and an undergraduate degree in religion/communication (1978) from Trevecca Nazarene University. Along with his work in Christian higher education, he has been a member of pastoral staff in four churches, serving as Senior Associate Pastor at Nashville First Nazarene when elected, and also held leadership positions in Nazarene Youth International over twenty-one years, including Global NYI President from 1995-2001. He is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene on the MidSouth (USA) District.
Dr. Peggy (Jenkins) Oldham holds a doctoral degree in education leadership from Spalding University (2008), a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Tennessee State University (1997), and a bachelor of science degree in psychology/communication from Trevecca Nazarene University (1979). While at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, she was Associate Vice President/Dean for Student Development (2003-09), after having served as Associate Dean (1993-2003) and Resident Director (1991-93), and was Executive Director of Student Success (2009-10); at MidAmerica Nazarene University, she was Project Manager for Alumni and Church Relations (2011-12). She has been an adjunct faculty member in Graduate and Continued Studies at Trevecca Nazarene University since 2013, and received the Teaching Excellence Award for the Management and Human Relations degree program in 2016. She was also serving as Associate Director for Alumni and Church Engagement when called into the global mission assignment.
The Oldhams have two adult children: Scott, (Trevecca Nazarene University, BA ’07 and MA ‘13) and Lyndsey, (Mount Vernon Nazarene University, BA ’11).
