Portland —On January 15, the Portland, Oregon First Church of the Nazarene (PFCN) started what will be a six-month celebration of their 100th anniversary. During this celebration, the church will be honored to have all living former pastors return as guests along with several special reunions and programs.

The celebration kicked off last Sunday with William Abersold, pastor of PFCN in 1962-63, speaking during the morning worship hour. On Sunday evening, a special media presentation, “The People Called Nazarenes,” documented the history of the Church of the Nazarene and PFCN's place in Nazarene history from PFCN's organization July 4, 1906 to the present day.

The celebration will culminate with a rally July 2 through 4 as the church looks forward to its next hundred years. The special speaker for Sunday, July 2 will be internationally renowned evangelist Luis Palau.
