Barbados District NYI Quiz Meet
By Ruth Lawrence, Regional NYI BQM Coordinator
January 2008

The Barbados District NYI recently had their convention, and we had the privilege of being a part of this convention. On Saturday January 26, they hosted a Bible Quizzing Ministries (BQM) meet, and we had in attendance teams representing the Leeward/Virgin Islands District, the Trinidad and Tobago District, and the host District, Barbados.

It was a very wonderful time of quizzing, and so many wonderful qualities were displayed.  At the awards time, I mentioned that I would give a prize to:

1. the Leeward/Virgin Islands District for their consistency (they came to Trinidad in August 2007 and returned to Barbados with an-almost brand new team, and the other quizzers are still quizzing…hats off to this District);

2. the Trinidad & Tobago District for their standard of continued excellence in quizzing and mentoring...fantastic job...you made us proud!! and...

3. the Barbados District for capturing the true spirit of quizzing...this made the weekend special for BQM!!

We had a wonderful fellowship time each evening with all the quizzers who took the initiative to ensure that they had a lime!

I would like to offer all thanks, praise, and glory to God for ALL that He has accomplished through us this weekend...it was awesome!!

Thank you to Barbados District NYI, Hallam Jemmot and your Council for having us and for all your hard work with hosting, accommodation, meals, transportation etc.

Thank you to NYI Regional Coordinator, Monte Cyr for your presence and input.

Thank you to District NYI Presidents (Jameel Lee, Dexter Daly) for your support.

Thank you to the coaches, Jennifer St. Romain and Alisha Richards, for your work in preparing the team.

Thank you to the officials of the meet, Deenesh Babi, Alicia Baptiste, and Darren Gomez, for maintaining such a high standard for our meet.

And most importantly, thank you to the quizzers, because without you, there would be no BQM meet!!

We left a lot of young people excited about being a part of quizzing and adults interested in getting quizzing started or restarted in their Churches. Our prayer (and please join with us) is that the flame of quizzing on the Barbados District will continued to be fanned until it spreads into a mighty fire of revival on this District.
