What affect would the schools in your community experience if all the concerned mothers gathered for a day of prayer? What would happen in these mothers continued to pray regularly for the school system?

Mom's Day of Prayer (MDOP) is a day for women to gather to join in prayer for their children and grandchildren. Mom's Day of Prayer began with one woman, Kathy Coleman. Kathy read about a prayer movement in Brazil that involved thousands of women, started by one woman. Asking why it couldn't happen in her town, Kathy approached her pastor and was encouraged to make the dream a reality.

Expecting a few women from her church to attend, Kathy planned the fist Mom's Day of Prayer (MDOP). Word soon spread and moms from around the area were excited about gathering to pray for their children. More than two hundred women from different churches in the area attended the first MDOP. For more information about the next Mom's Day of Prayer, January 20, 2007, visit the web site at http://www.momsdayofprayer.com/.

Back to School

Decorations: On the tables put baskets of crayons, scissors, erasers, pencils, etc.

Refreshments: Milk and cookies

Program:
Ask two women to talk about “What God Has Taught Me. ”

You may wish to set up “classrooms” throughout the church. Another option is to keep the group together. The following are suggestions for classes and instructions for each.

Music—sing some familiar choruses and tell the story of each one.

Art—each woman makes a simple craft.

Geography—distribute copies of the biblical geography word search. Send mailing address to Linda Hardin to receive a printed copy of these activities.

Math—distribute copies of the biblical math problems and answers. Send mailing address to Linda Hardin to receive a printed copy of these activities.

Spelling—Write the words “Back to School” on the board. Give the women a piece of paper and a pencil and ask them to see how many words they can form with the letters. Give a small prize to the winner.

Do You Hear What I Hear?

Decorations:
Have a listening center—portable TV, radio, tape recorder, DVD player, telephone, some instruments—anything else that women listen to during the day.

Devotional:
I. What are we listening to?

In homes where life is busy and filled with loud music and noisy televisions, disobedient children, and our minds are polluted by false teachings from the influence around us, how can God's voice be heard? Are all these things stifling our ability to know and hear God? Philippians 4:8-9.

II. What are we listening to?

A. Prepare to hear God. Psalm 46:10

1. Joy – Psalm 5:11
2. Praise – 1 Peter 2:8
3. Compassion (not bitterness) – Galatians 5
4. Love (not hatred) – Galatians 5

B. Feed regularly on the word

1. Learn the truth
2. Develop the ability to discern – 2 Timothy 2:15, Hebrews 4:11-13, 1 Corinthians 2:13

C. Fellowship with God (devotions) for the joy of it.

1. Time to love God – James 4:8
2. Show appreciation – give thanks – Hebrews 12:12
3. Express supplications – Philippians 4:4-6

Listen more attentively to the people in your life. Become aware of what you are listening to on the radio and TV. Pray for God's guidance.

Refreshments:
It must be loud. Try celery sticks with different fillings like peanut butter, cream cheese and pineapple. Also serve carrot sticks, crackers, peanuts, and anything else that crunches.
