What is NIEA?
The purpose of NIEA is to promote, resource, and support Nazarene Christian Schools (birth through secondary) and educators worldwide.
The Nazarene International Education Association was born out of the concern of Nazarene educators. They recognized the need for a support network to provide fellowship and resources to strengthen their educational ministries. The Association of Nazarene Christian Schools (ANCS) was the first grass roots response to this need. In 1980, the General Assembly placed responsibility for Christian Schools in Children's Ministries. In a 1982 report to ANCS, Miriam Hall, director of Children's Ministries, proposed a denominationally sponsored organization. ANCS voluntarily disbanded in favor of the new organization. After two years of planning, the Christian School Steering Committee adopted the concept and name of NIEA on April 17, 1984. In June of 1984, the new NIEA Executive Council proposed a Constitution and Bylaws. In February of 1985, the General Board approved the documents paving the way for ratification by NIEA membership.

Annual NIEA ConferenceThe Annual NIEA Conference is an opportunity for fellowship and networking for those involved in Christian, public, private, and home schools. Many seminars and workshops are offered to provide useful information for continuing to provide quality education.
Each year the conference is held in a different educational region. Below is the list of locations for future NIEA conferences.
2009 -- Orlando, Florida
E3 Conference - Educate, Equip, and Encourage!The
E3 Conference will be a one-day seminar on Wednesday, June 24, in Orlando, Florida. E3 will educate, equip, and encourage educators for their important role in the lives of their students. The E3 Conference is sponsored by the Nazarene International Education Association, an organization whose purpose is to resource and to encourage all Christian educators associated with the Church of the Nazarene and to provide a network of fellowship and professional enrichment for those who minister in a childcare, or a public school, private school, Christian school, or homeschool setting.
The E3 Conference will provide special speakers, professional workshops, and a luncheon. Educators can meet and fellowship with other Nazarene educators from the USA/Canada and some world regions. Details about workshops and speakers will be available on the NIEA website,
www.niea-online.org, and at the General Assembly website,
www.gacorlando.org/e3.
Fellowship and networking are key elements to help teachers stay focused and upbeat. There are hundreds of Nazarene teachers in many settings who feel the need to network with other Nazarenes. Experienced teachers can mentor and provide suggestions for new teachers. New teachers bring their enthusiasm for working with their students. Administrators can share the unique problems they face every day. All educators can share the desire to work together to share their faith in appropriate ways with students and fellow educators.
So, mark the date, June 24, 2009, and make plans to come to Orlando, Florida, for the E3 Conference.
