Before My Campers Arrive: • Am I dressed neatly? Do I look like a camp leader?
• Is my cabin clean and neat? Does it look like a good place to live?
• Do I know the names of each of the campers who will be in my charge?
• Do I have a store of stories, songs, and games to be used at appropriate times?
When My Campers Arrive • Have I greeted each with a smile?
• Have I seen to it that each of the campers has all his or her luggage?
After My Campers Arrive • Have I talked with my campers about coming events?
• Have I told them about the camp traditions and customs?
• Have I discussed general camp rules and policies?
• Have I made each camper feel welcome?
• Have I asked my campers what they would like to accomplish in camp?
• Have I been alert on this first day of camp to any signs of homesickness?
• Have I found something that each of my campers can do well?
• Have I stressed courtesy and consideration for one another?
• Have I stressed cooperation in maintaining our cabin?
