Dr. Warrick ordained a total of 22 men and women into ministry on this tour. |
J. K. Warrick, jurisdictional general superintendent for the South America Region, recently conducted district assemblies across six countries: Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, and Paraguay. Throughout his tour, he reported statistical gains, many being sanctified and renewed in the power of the Spirit around altars, and an eagerness to participate in fulfilling the mission of the Church of the Nazarene: to make Christlike disciples in the nations.
Dr. Warrick shared with the delegates and visitors at these district assemblies regarding the new global formula for the World Evangelism Fund and urged them to participate fully in funding the mission of the church. There was enthusiastic response. In Venezuela, they celebrated the news of the first Venezuelan global missionary, who was commissioned at the recent 2009 General Board meeting. They sense a new participation and responsibility in the mission.

He also ordained 22 men and women as ministers in the Church of the Nazarene: in Ecuador three from the Costa District; in Bolivia four from the Santa Cruz and Los Yungas Districts; in Argentina 15 from the Aborigen, Mesopotamico, Patagonia Norte, Patagonia Central, Litoral, and Central Districts; and in Paraguay three coming from the Argentina Noreste District. The candidate ordained from the Argentina Aborigen District was the first ordinand from his tribe, and the congregation joyfully celebrated this achievement.

Dr. Warrick expressed the privilege he felt to join several hundred committed people at the prayer services at 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. at the Cali, Colombia, House of Prayer Church of the Nazarene. “I was so blessed and encouraged to be a part of this time,” he said. Later he preached in the three prayer and fasting services at 6:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 7:00 p.m. At the invitation, many people in the congregation stood as an indication of their desire to surrender their lives to the sanctifying grace of the Lord.
The Cali, Columbia, House of Prayer Church reported 1,000 new Nazarenes. Other smaller churches on the Colombia Suroccidental District reported growth of nearly 40 percent. All districts visited showed annual gains of 8-16 percent.
“The South America Region is graced with good leadership and vision,” said Dr. Warrick. “It has been a privilege to work with Regional Director Christian Sarmiento and the dedicated people of South America.”
