Porter Ordains 14 in Packed African Stadium

Nazarene - Porter Ordains in StadiumGeneral Superintendent Jerry D. Porter joined nearly 3,500 Nazarenes for a rally and ordination service in the Tulahamashe Stadium near Arthurseat in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa on Sunday, February 3. Candidates for ordination had come from the Eastern, Gauteng, Drakensburg, Soutpansberg, and Northeast districts—all in South Africa.

The atmosphere was described as “electrifying” as people sang joyfully in the Shangaan language and Dr. Porter preached a message of repentance. He challenged each of the ordinands to give their very best to fulfill the mission of making Christlike disciples.

A large host of elders joined the ceremony as Dr. Porter ordained 14 into the Christian ministry, laying their hands on the ordinands and praying for them. Mrs. Toni Porter encouraged spouses to continue supporting and praying for their ministerial mates.

“This thrilling service was a majestic testimony of Holy Spirit unity as the various districts came together for the first time to present a powerful witness, to the glory of God,” said Dr. Porter. “The missional vision and enthusiasm of these South African Nazarene leaders is inspiring and contagious!”
