What motivates you to work with youth?

I think knowing where God took me from and that God used a youth leader to help me get back to my senses. I see it as my duty and call in life to “return the favor” to many young people who need a youth worker to help them get back to their senses. I also see this as a “life calling” whether I am in leadership or not. I am passionate to help and lead youth to a place of safety!

How many years have you been in youth ministry?

I have been in Youth Ministry for 20 years but even when I was not actively involved in the church, I always wanted to help young people.

What is the best book you have read relating to youth ministry?

Purpose-Driven Youth Ministry, by Doug Fields.

What’s the best advice you can give a youth leader?

Don’t give up ... persevere! You might not see the fruits of your labor in the here and now, but your impact might show up in later generations.

What’s the best advice you can give to parents of youth?

Don’t give up ... persevere! Be ready to be there for them ... they do need you.

What would you like the church to know about today’s youth?

That although they seem to advance at a very rapid pace, they still need a place to be heard, to voice their frustrations, to have a place of safety, and a place of belonging.
