Charlotte and Barry Carney
Barry and Charlie Carney started their service as global missionaries in the Church of the Nazarene in Argentina from 2001-2006 as the Work and Witness Coordinators. They then moved to El Paso, Texas to be the Work and Witness Coordinators for USA/Canada with an emphasis on the border of Mexico. The Carneys then served in Hot Springs, Arkansas at First Church of the Nazarene where Barry was the administrative and youth pastor. Barry was ordained in 2011 and then the Carneys returned to South America to serve in the Central Field, Paraguay and Bolivia. Through recent restructuring of the Fields in South America, Barry and Charlie now serve specifically in Paraguay under the Southern Cone Field. They have worked in areas of church development, Work and Witness, Jesus Film, along with Barry being the District Superintendent for the three districts in Paraguay and pastoring a local church in San Lorenzo.
Barry and Charlie both attended Mid America Nazarene University. Barry finished his Masters in Missional Leadership through NNU in 2016 and recently started a Doctoral program through TNU. They have 3 children: Andrew (24) and Alex (21) who live in Arkansas, and Alyssa (19) who is currently studying Theology at SNU.
They have had a passion for missions for many years and have a deep desire to serve God and to share His love wherever He may lead them. They are very excited about what the Lord is doing in Paraguay and enjoy the peace that comes from being in the center of God’s perfect will.

Going Where the Church is Not Yet
Today there are over 4.3 billion people who live in areas where there is little to no gospel witness. 4.3 billion people who have not heard the message of the gospel, who have never heard the name of Jesus. We believe that everyone deserves to hear. God continues to call the Church of the Nazarene to spread the message of the gospel, to preach holiness, and to bring good news to the poor all over the world. The task is enormous; far too big for anyone to do alone, but together we can go where the church is not yet and see people, communities, and nations transformed. Reaching these people begins with one step, a step of obedience and faithfulness that says yes to God’s call. Take your first step and start your journey toward serving in missions today.
