 Baby Day - Sketch

The Miracle of New Life

The setting is in a church nursery. There are three characters: (1) Nursery Worker number one; (2) Nursery Worker number two; and (3) the Baby (adult dressed in “baby clothes”). This is a silent skit, in that each character holds a stack of cards with the phrases shown below, revealing the cards to the audience one-at-a-time in the proper order. One person should be stationed in front of them, to cue each character when to reveal the next card. Care should be taken to ensure there is enough time between cards to allow the audience to read them (and for dramatic pause). Note: The numbers below represent the reader number, and should not be printed on the cards. Log on to the Baby Day website (listed on page 1) to download the text, already formatted to print on 8.5” X 11” sheets of paper.

1. At [church name], we love babies!

2. Yes, we do!

3. Glad to hear it.

1. Babies are special.

2. And wonderful.

3. I couldn't agree more.

1. In fact, babies are a gift from God.

2. The miracle of new life!

3. Well, since you're so impressed…

3. Would you mind feeding me?

1. In the Bible, Psalm 139:13 says

2. For you created my inmost being;

1. …you knit me together in my mother's womb.

3. Hey, can you HEAR me? I'm hungry!

1. Isn't that verse a beautiful portrait of God's love?

2. Absolutely, it helps us understand God watches over us…

1. Even before we leave our mother's womb!

3. Um… still hungry over here!

1. You know, even though we're not infants anymore…

2. We are still children of God.

1. And God loves us so much, He sent…

2. His Son, Jesus…

1. Who died to save us from our sins.

3. Yo, people... listen up – I'm hungry!

1. But Jesus' death isn't the end of the story.

2. No way… in fact it's just the beginning!

3. Excuse me… HELLO?

1. On the third day, God raised Jesus from the grave.

2. And His resurrection defeated the powers of darkness.

1. Giving everyone the opportunity to have…

2. Eternal life!

3. This is wonderful, but…

3. I still need food here!

1. Isn't God good?

2. You know, it!

3. Don't adults ever listen?

1. Hey, isn't that cute how the baby just keeps talking?

2. Yep. I love the goo-goos and ga-gas… adorable!

3. Adorable? I'll show you adorable!

1. (Sniff, sniff) Uh, do you smell something?

2. Yep.

3. I knew THAT would get your attention!

1. It's time to change the baby's diaper.

2. Maybe we should feed him (or her) too.

3. YES! Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!

1. Good idea.

3. Ah, nothing shows Jesus' love…

3. Like a snack and a clean diaper!
