 NCPA Constitution

 

Article I (Name and Affiliation)

Section 1: The organization shall be known as the Nazarene Children's Pastors' Association (NCPA).

Section 2: The organization shall function in relationship with Children's Ministries, Church of the Nazarene International.

Article II (Purpose)

Section 1: The purpose of the Nazarene Children's Pastors' Association (NCPA) is to develop awareness of excellence in ministry to children and families and to assist the church in achieving excellence by educating, challenging, supporting, equipping and resourcing, communicating, and networking.

Section 2: A children's pastor is one who is called by God to a vocation of pastoral ministry to children and families and who is credentialed for this minisry by the Church of the Nazarene.

Article III (Membership)

Section 1: Full membership shall include:

  1. Children's pastors* serving in a full or part-time staff position in a Church of the Nazarene. (*Refer to Article II, Section 1.)
  2. Children's pastors serving in the field of evangelism.
  3. Professors of Christian Education/Children's Ministries in Nazarene educational institutions.
  4. General Children's Ministries leaders.

Section 2: Associate members have all the benefits and privileges of full membership with the exception of voting privileges and board membership. Associate membership shall include:

  1. College and seminary students pursuing a vocation in Children's Ministry
  2. District Children's Directors (non-licensed)
  3. Local Children's Directors (non-licensed)
  4. Anyone involved in Children's Ministry at the general, district, or local level (non-licensed)

Section 3: Annual membership dues:

  1. The membership year shall run from January 1 to December 31.
  2. Full Membership Dues are subject to annual review of the NCPA Board.
  3. Dues shall be determined for full membership and associate/student membership

Article IV (Meetings)

Section 1: There shall be two yearly meetings of the NCPA Board.

Section 2: There shall be at least an annual gathering of the NCPA members during the scheduled Children's Pastor's Conferences.

Section 3: There shall be an official meeting of the NCPA members for voting purposes at the time and place of the General Assembly. All other elections will be conducted by mail.

Section 4: All meetings shall be announced by mail at least 90 days in advance.

Article V (Board of Directors)

Section 1: The Board of Directors of the NCPA shall consist of one representative from each educational zone and the number of at-large representatives as designated by the Board of Directors prior to the election.

Section 2: A chairman, secretary, and treasurer shall be elected as designated by the NCPA Board of Directors.

Section 3: The Board of Directors shall also include official representatives from Children's Ministries, Church of the Nazarene International.

Section 4: The Board of Directors shall be elected by the membership during the quadrennium at the time and place of the General Assembly and at the mid-point of the quadrennium. The mid-quadrennium election shall be conducted by a mail ballot. One half of the Board shall be elected at each election and serve for four years. The Board of Directors shall designate a nominating committee to compile the official ballot prior to each election.
