What is the Blue and White Dinner?

The Caravan Blue and White Dinner is a time for Caravan children to express their appreciation to the people who have helped them and supported the local Caravan program-parents and family, friends, Caravan sponsors, guest guides, local church leaders.

The dinner is also a time for children to demonstrate their skills in a practical way by preparing the dinner, decorating, serving as hosts and hostesses, and taking part in presentations.

When is the Blue and White Dinner Held?

Traditionally, the Caravan Blue and White Dinner is help in February. This gives children time to learn a number of skills they can put into practice. It also focuses attention and interest on a special event during what can seem to be a time between Christmas and Easter.
The Blue and White Dinner can be held at any time during the Caravan year.

Why is it called a "Blue and White" Dinner?

The official colors of Caravan are blue and white. Therefore, we called the dinner the Blue and White Dinner. We recommend the use of blue and white table decorations, napkins, plates, cups, and utensils to help emphasize the name of the dinner.

Who Plans the Dinner?

The Caravan committee sets the date, time, and location. They determine the type of dinner, entertainment, presentations, menu, and prepare assignments for each Caravan class. Classes should be given guidelines, but as much as possible, allowed freedom of creative expression in planning and completing their assignment. This provides a structure for Caravan children while giving children ownership of the event.
