More than 130 people were ordained on the Africa Region during ordination services that took place across the region in October and November 2021.

General Superintendent Eugénio Duarte and Africa Regional Director Daniel Gomis presided over the ordinations.

On 9 October 2021, the Youpougon Andokoua Church of the Nazarene in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, held its 30th District Assembly. The ordination service took place before the District Assembly, where eight people were ordained from Benin, Ghana, Kenya, and Côte d’Ivoire.

The Africa South Field held its ordination service at Agapè Church of the Nazarene in South Africa on 23 October 2021. Fifty-five people were ordained from 14 districts across South Africa, Botswana, and Lesotho. Of them, 46 were ordained as elders and nine as deacons.

Africa Lusophone field had its ordination service the following day, with 19 ordinands, 18 elders, and one deacon from 14 districts in Mozambique. The service took place in Laulane Bible College in Mozambique.

Then on 31 October 2021, an ordination service was held in Angola. It has been 10 years since the last ordination in that country. That day, they celebrated 48 ordinands, five of whom were women. This was the largest group ever ordained in the country, leading to what was described as a precious celebration.

The final ordination service took place in Cabo Verde on 14 November 2021, where six people were ordained.

“We thank God for their dedication to the call of God and the building of His kingdom,” said Africa Region Director Daniel Gomis. “May we continue praying for each one of them that the power of the Holy Spirit may keep them and enable them to fulfill the Great Commission of making Christlike disciples in Africa and beyond!”
