Mesoamerica NCM leaders renew vision
NCM Mesoamerica leaders met in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to strengthen their team, renew their vision, and reaffirm their commitment to children and communities in the region. Fourteen leaders from Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) and Sponsorship and Comprehensive Child Development from the Mesoamerica Region met on May 5-6, 2025, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The purpose of the meeting was to develop the ministerial team, reflect on current challenges, and renew their commitment to expanding the kingdom of God.
During the day, participants shared daily devotionals, worship times, reflection sessions, and key presentations designed to strengthen their ministry. One of the most enriching moments was the presentation on the importance of children and urban contexts, which highlighted how these groups are highly sensitive and strategic for the advancement of the gospel today.
"We firmly believe that children are disciples in training, not in waiting. We believe that children were made in the image of God and with dignity. Therefore, our job is to care for them and educate adults to care for them in the way God desires," said Marlen Soria, regional coordinator of Children's Ministries.
Hope Brock, project manager, and Jeremy Moser, finance and operations coordinator, both representatives of the NCM international office, shared updated tools that contribute to the effective functioning of the ministry in the region.
Regional Director Dr. Carlos Sáenz shared the vision that guides Mesoamerica: "United in Christ to serve." Carlos emphasized that although numbers can help measure results, the true center of ministry must be a life surrendered to the service of the Lord.
In various interventions, the leaders highlighted key elements of the ministry. Marlen Soria encouraged strengthening MNC's presence on social media as a way to expand its impact. David Campos, MNC regional coordinator, emphasized the value of well-structured reports and the importance of knowing how to tell the stories of the ministry as a testimony of God's movement. Along the same lines, Cutberto Tenorio, MNC coordinator for Northern Mexico, emphasized that sharing stories should become a common practice over time in each district.
A key moment of the meeting was the May 6 devotional, which emphasized serving with humility through Jesus’ example in John 13. The devotional inspired renewed commitment among attendees to love-based leadership and strengthened team unity through a symbolic gesture of mutual service and prayer.
The participants returned to their places of service committed to impacting the children and communities of Mesoamerica, striving to be a church that serves with excellence and a willing heart.
