When the JESUS film was shown in the local Serere language, it had a deep impact on the people of Baad. Many gave their lives to the Lord and were baptized into the faith.

For this remote village in Senegal, where rain comes for one month each year, finding a place to have an actual baptism seemed impossible. But God is good and answered prayers that He would bless this village.

Within a year of conversion, a river began to flow a stone's throw from the village, allowing 40 people to be baptized. And the full measure of God's goodness didn't stop there.

The fellowship that started in Baad spread. There are four church plants in neighboring communities that have been established, with hopes of reaching all 28 nearby villages.

A small center has been set up in Baad for the purpose of training young leaders in the church. Solar panels were placed on the roof of the center. The nearly year-round sunshine provides an almost endless supply of energy. This has brought in people from all around as the excess energy not used by the center goes to power cell phones.

Most people in these villages have no electricity and no running water, but almost everyone has a cell phone. Before the center, people charged their cell phones at the local trade center more than 5 kilometers (about 2 miles) away. Now the church is able to provide this service locally and it helps raise funds for its youth. It also gives the church the ability to tithe to the growing local district.

An irrigation program provides vegetables for the community. In such a dry and arid region, growing their own food was nearly impossible for the local people.

An elder from the church, Dip Nyang, received training in raising common Senegalese staples and was able to provide the knowledge to the village. Now, instead of paying a premium price for food, many are able to eat the fruit of their own labor.

Each month, young people come to the center to learn more about their God, and each month, His impact on their lives deepens. The Lord's blessings, both on the people and the center they use, are proof of how amazing and mysterious are the ways of the Lord.
