Recently the Nazarene Theological Seminary Board of Trustees elected a new president, but asked for a delayed response from that individual. Now, the board has released the name of the president-elect, but he has not made a final decision.

"Dr. David Busic, pastor of Bethany, Oklahoma, First Church of the Nazarene, is considering his response to being elected the ninth president of Nazarene Theological Seminary," Board Chair and Kansas City District Superintendent Jeren Rowell said in a statement.

"The Board of Trustees elected Dr. Busic in a meeting on June 9. Following the search process adopted by the board in April, the president-elect was asked to suspend response until after meeting with the board and the faculty. The first meetings took place recently in Kansas City. Announcement of the decision is expected within 30 days of the election. The Board of Trustees calls on the church to pray for all involved in this important decision."

Busic has served as senior pastor at Bethany First Church since 2004. A current member of the Church of the Nazarene's General Board, Busic previously pastored in Lenexa, Kansas (Kansas City Central) and Livermore, California (Vineyard Community).

He is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University and Nazarene Theological Seminary.

Since 2000, Busic served as co-editor of Preacher's Magazine, and is one of the co-authors of the Pastor's Guide to Effective Preaching. He and his wife Christi have three children: Megan, Ben, and Madison.
