Brazil Londrina District elects new superintendent

by | 02 Apr 2015

The Brazil Londrina District held its 24th assembly March 21. The assembly was presided over by the general superintendent in jurisdiction, Jerry D. Porter. Also present was South America Regional Director Christian Sarmiento and the sub regional director, Aguiar Valvassoura. The assembly included the following events:

  • Upon approval from the Board of General Superintendents, the Londrina District went from Phase 2 to Phase 3.
  • Eloi Lopes Moutinho retired after 29 years of ministry as district superintendent of the Curitiba and Londrina districts. He also served as senior pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene in Londrina since January 1996. Moutinho leaves a legacy of service, love, and diligence in serving the Lord. With an unusual clarity and detachment to the new, but always keeping the focus, roots, and identity of the denomination. During his time as pastor, the church has grown and established itself as reference of faith, zeal, and the proclamation of holiness.
  • Gilbert De Oliveira E Silva was elected as superintendent on the first ballot with 83 percent. Gilbert is married to Andreia de Araujo Silva de Oliviera, they have four children, and he currently pastors the Jardim Ima Church of Nazarene  in Campo Grande.
  • The assembly closed with a service in which Porter shared the Word of God and the district pastors committed themselves to plant churches.

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
