Hundreds join annual Winward Islands NMI prayer walk

by | 25 Jun 2019

Approximately 300 Nazarenes of all ages participated in the Windward Islands District annual Nazarene Missions International Prayer Walk 9-10 June in the St. Lucia, Grenada, and St. Vincent Zones.

The event theme was “Reclaiming Our Land Through Prayer,” and it focused on I Thessalonians 5:17, encouraging the participants to pray without ceasing.

The event began more than 20 years ago, led by former NMI President Yvonne Charles. Every year, Nazarenes from the district walk into different communities within their zones in the early morning to pray for the specific needs of that community. They sing praise and worship songs along the route and stop at designated places to pray.

This year, participants walked through the View Fort community on the St. Lucia Zone, in the Content and Concord communities on the Grenada Zone, and in the Diamond Community on the St. Vincent Zone.

“Over the years, God has moved and answered prayers for the communities where these prayer walks have taken place,” said Jonquil Cadougan, district NMI president. “God has already begun answering our prayers on this walk too.”
