Eastern Nazarene College President Jack Connell is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Slater as vice president for student development, effective 6 July 2021.

Slater is a graduate of Asbury University (B.A.), Geneva College (M.A.) and Azusa Pacific University (Ph.D. in higher education). He comes to ENC from Indiana Wesleyan University, where he served as associate dean of Student Engagement and director of Enrollment Management.

As vice president for student development, Slater will have responsibility for providing strategic leadership to all aspects of the student experience at ENC.

“Dr. Slater brings to this role outstanding professional and academic qualifications, great passion for Christian higher education, and a deep desire to develop environments in which students can thrive,” Connell said. “His love for students is evident, and I am confident that his leadership here will help ENC continue to move forward in providing an enriching, transformative experience for our students.”

Slater is excited about the opportunity to empower the ENC student body.

“I am truly honored and absolutely delighted to be a part of the ENC community,” Slater said. “My driving passion in Christian higher education is to help campuses become places in which students can truly flourish, embracing all that God has for them. I believe deeply that God has a bold future for ENC and consider it a tremendous honor to be able to join into His plan.”

Ian, his wife, Rachel, and their three children, Theodore (6), Emmalyn (3) and Elliot (9 months), will be relocating to Quincy in July. Until then, Robert Benjamin, vice president of Multicultural Affairs, will serve as interim vice president of Student Development.
