Brazil training center prepares local church planters

Brazil training center prepares local church planters

by | 25 Jun 2019

The Amazon District Nazarene Missions International team created a church planting training center for leaders in Novo Airão, Brazil.

This project is an initiative of Ramon Santos and other leaders from the Northeast Paulista District. Santos coordinates training sessions with volunteer professors from various districts, including Amazon District pastors Josenil Tavares and Igor Vale.

The group in Novo Airão began meeting in the local church, and Tavares leads the classes. The training began with 14 students, all of whom were active members of the local church. The students are trained with Nazarene curriculum under the supervision of the Amazon District to increase the number of licensed ministers in the area.

One of the project challenges is to adapt the curriculum to fit the lifestyle, education level, and worldview of the people who live along the Amazon River. This will help the students effectively minister in the cultural context of the people the project is designed to reach.

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
