Over 70 women clergy and pastors’ wives gathered at Central Philippines Nazarene College for the second offering of the Women Clergy Conference 2-4 June 2022. It was a time for attendees to refresh themselves and encourage one another.

The theme of the conference was “Empowering Women Clergy and Pastors’ Wives in the Ministry,” aligning it with one of the goals of the field — to strengthen and empower women in ministry.

The three-day event focused on encouraging, equipping and challenging the women through plenary workshops and evening worship services led by pastors’ wives and women clergy in the districts.

Sessions included “The Role and Responsibilities of Pastor and Pastor’s Wife,” led by Ana Maria Babao; “The Joys and Pains of a Pastor’s Wife,” led by Sharon Punsalan, and “What pastors’ kids expect from us, ” led by Mary Jean Balayo.

During the worship services, participants were challenged to improve their spiritual intimacy and prayer life as well as invitation to renew their commitment to the call to holiness in leadership.

The group sharing time enhanced the discussion, enabling the participants to share their experiences, give insights, and establish new relationships with fellow women in ministry.

“I praise God for the topics that have been discussed,” said one attendee. “It was very timely and helpful for me as a new pastor’s wife.”

The two evening worship services were the highlight of the conference. The attendees say they felt the Holy Spirit’s move, leading them to a moment of revival.

Moreover, the session with the pastors’ kids was eye-opening to most delegates. The children, who grew up sharing the highs and lows of ministry with their parents, shared how blessed they were and how they overcame unrealistic expectations from church people.

“I praise and thank God for the privilege that I was able to attend this conference,” said another attendee.  “It was a big help and reminder for our responsibilities being a pastor’s wife.”
