Nazarene Approved Missions Projects (formerly 10% Missions Specials)

Each year, Nazarenes give approximately $26 million in addition to World Evangelism giving in order to make Christlike disciples in the nations. To view the most recent annual report for the Church of the Nazarene, click here.

Nazarene Approved Missions Projects are approved strategically in each of the six global regions for the Church of the Nazarene and help to fund projects that go beyond the infrastructure and technology provided through the World Evangelism giving of each local Nazarene church.

A comprehensive list of Nazarene Approved Missions Projects is available at nazarene.org/give. These projects are listed by category: Alabaster, region, our missionaries, JESUS Film, Nazarene youth, World Mission Broadcast, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, and education initiatives. If you do not find the approved project you want to give to, contact stewardship@nazarene.org or call 1-800-544-8413 for assistance.

All gifts for Nazarene Approved Missions Projects count toward your local church recognition and Funding the Mission giving goals.

History of Mission Giving in the Church of the Nazarene

In 1905, Leslie F. Gay, a vice president for the First Church of the Nazarene Los Angeles General Missionary Board, championed a resolution encouraging churches to give 10 percent of their total income toward missions work. In 1949, Nazarene Missions International President Louise Robinson Chapman, in an impassioned speech, challenged Nazarene churches to show their devotion to the mission by meeting this Ten Percent giving goal.

Today, many individuals and churches still continue to honor past traditions and challenge themselves to answer the call and give beyond their tithe and donate to Nazarene Approved Missions Projects God places on their hearts. These projects were historically called Ten Percent Mission Specials (now Nazarene Approved Missions Projects).
