Description:

After nearly 200 years of evangelistic effort, less than 1% of Thailand’s population are followers of Jesus. More than half of those Christians are concentrated in only 3 of Thailand’s 77 provinces. Around 40% of Christians are ethnic Thai but belong to several hill tribe peoples.

Taken together, this means most Thai people almost completely unreached. Combining the four Thai people groups together (central, north, northeast, and southern), makes them one of the 10 largest unreached people groups worldwide!

Most of the people who live in Mahasarakham, one of the provinces in the Isaan region, are farmers. The capitol city, also called Mahasarakham, has long been known as a regional education center, and is home to one of the largest universities in the Isaan region. For a time, Mahasarakham ranked among the poorest cities in Isaan, but this is changing, partly under the influence of the rapidly growing student population.

With growing population we see the need to help the community through a family counseling program and a livelihood program.

This program offers both face-to-face and online counseling. Most of the people we are reaching are families from different villages, but we are also helping university students in partnership with another organization.

The goal of the livelihood ministry is to help the community be productive and recognize their God-given gifts. It will establish a small woodworking shop. This program, which will help to meet a practical need to provide income for families, will also open the door to friendship evangelism. We pray God will use these conversations in such a way that people in this community will accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

The funds for this project are to purchase the tools and equipment necessary to fit out a small woodworking workshop. To begin with, three people will work in the shop, teach and encourage participants in woodworking, and little by little introduce them Jesus.

The church has already begun producing prototype products to sell at some of the popular night markets, which will offer participants a simple and direct way to sell the products they produce.
