When news broke of the increased hospitalization rate due to COVID-19 in Campinas, Brazil, the youth of the Igreja do Nazareno Comunidade da Esperança, led by Pastor Giovanni Santos, decided to put on their masks and take the love and comfort of God personally.

“We saw the need at that time for the church to come out of the four walls to spread hope,” Santos said.  "We know that the environment of a hospital can be very difficult for those who live with an illness or have a loved one in that situation, so being able to be there carrying the presence and love of God was supernatural."

The pastor was impressed to see the young people filled with the Holy Spirit putting the teachings of Jesus into practice. For him, this experience will forever impact the lives of these young people and bring them even closer to Jesus.

The leader of the church’s NYI Intercessory Ministry, José Pedro Alonso, reported how it has been to participate in this initiative.

“The gates of hell do not resist the church that prays, fasts, and stands firm,” Alonso said. “God opened the doors and led us to the beds of COVID-19 [patients] to be a prophetic mouth in that place.”

The group of 10 intends to continue visiting the city's hospitals at least once a week.

“It was beautiful to see healthcare professionals, patients in bed, and even family members reaching out and receiving everything they were being taught,” said Alonso. “People are thirsty for Jesus.”
