Carlos Cordero appointed FSC of North Central Field

Carlos José Cordero Lugo was appointed field strategy coordinator for the North Central Field on 4 February 2022. The appointment was made by Global Missions Director Verne Ward upon the recommendation of Mesoamerica Regional Director Carlos Saenz and in consultation with Jurisdictional General Superintendent Gustavo Crocker.

Cordero will replace Carlos Saenz, who has been serving in an interim capacity, on 1 March 2022. 

“I feel challenged, privileged, and grateful to practice the essential value of being a missional people,” Cordero said. “I hope to continue planting churches through passionate evangelism and comprehensive discipleship, which will allow us to reach new cities.”

Cordero has been the pastor of El Caujaro Iglesia Del Nazareno in Zulia, Venezuela, since 2006 and served as the superintendent of the Lago District of Venezuela since 2000. In addition, he has served as a professor at Seminario Teológico Nazareno Sudamericano in Venezuela since 1998. 

In his previous service, Cordero served as superintendent for the Venezula Centro Occidental District from 1993-1999 and pastor of Iglesia Del Nazareneo Barquisimeto in Venezuela. 

He earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Seminario Teológico Nazareno Sudamericano in 1991 and a master’s in religious sciences with an emphasis in missiology from Seminario Nazareno de la Américas in 2015.

Carlos and his wife Nancy have two children.
