Haiti pastor receives new house

Haiti pastor receives new house

by | 28 May 2015

An 11-member Work & Witness team from West Virginia, USA, arrived in Haiti May 8 to finish constructing a parsonage for Pastor Paul Oulus and his family.

The group worked quickly to finish construction and present the house May 14. They started work in the early morning, painting the ceiling and building the furniture with help from the local congregation. A stove and propane tank were also provided to Pastor Paul's wife, who previously cooked with charcoal.

The property has a well built by the Haiti Water Project and sponsored by a group from West Virginia, but the water from this well is not safe to drink, so the team also provided the family with a water purifier.

The leadership and the team shared a special time with the family worshipping the Lord together.

Pastor Paul Oulus and his family now have a new home thanks to Darin and Tonya Kucey, Haiti Work & Witness coordinators, the U.S. W&W teams serving in Haiti, and the local congregation who participated in the construction.

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
