Nazarene Youth International delegates gathered for a final morning of business together. Current Global Council Chair Adiel Amadeu shared a reflection with the convention on the past six years, focusing on the topic of unity.

“God in Himself is unity,” Amadeu said. “This is what we are to model in our character and actions.”

The Global NYI council thanked Amadeu for his dedication and service over his term. During this time of council transition, the convention also presented three leaders with The Timothy Award in recognition of outstanding service, sacrifice, and personal commitment to youth through NYI at the local, district, regional, or global levels. Global NYI staff member Lisa Aparicio, South America NYI Chair Christiano Malta, and former Eurasia NYI Chair Diego Lopez all received the award in acknowledgment of their years of ministry with NYI.

During this business session, the NYI delegation also elected Malta as council chair for 2023 to 2027. Malta, from Brazil, South America Region, received the votes necessary and accepted this position on the council.

There was a time of prayer over the new incoming council, and the entire room shared in singing the Doxology as they formally adjourned the convention.

“This is my fourth time coming to General Assembly but it’s my first time as a delegate,” said Hannah Clarkson from Scotland. “I have loved the worship in our sessions and hearing songs being led in different languages. It’s also been great meeting other youth leaders from around the world, but my favourite part has been spending time with other delegates from my field and getting to know them better.”

As the NYI delegates closed their time together, many transitioned to the General Assembly where they will help to represent their districts.

For the remainder of the week, 30 young people and leaders are taking part in the Love Your Neighbor service project taking place across Indianapolis. They will work in town clean-ups, construction, children’s ministry, and more as they seek to bring the tangible love of Christ to those who are most at need.

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
